14th Annual Race For Literacy

Save the date! We are proud to announce the 14th Annual Brooke Jackman Race for Literacy, a 5k Run/Walk, held on Saturday, May 18, 2018. The Run will begin at the Brooke Jackman Reading Garden at the Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School in Oyster Bay, at 9:30 am. We invite your participation!

This fun family day includes yoga stretches, great company, and delicious refreshments. And again this year—a ¼-mile Fun Run for kids age 8 and under, with prizes for all. Children’s Fun Run activities begin at 8:45 am and will include: face painting, tattoos, yoga, hula hoops, and much more. And remember, the Fun Run starts promptly at 9:00 am. As many of our friends know, the Brooke Jackman Foundation is a nonprofit organization created in response to the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001, that claimed the life of Brooke Jackman, age 23. The Foundation’s mission is to honor Brooke’s legacy—a deep love of reading and a profound interest in helping children—by helping to create and support programs enhancing the literacy and self esteem of children. Proceeds from the Brooke Jackman Race for Literacy will directly support the Brooke Pack, Project Brooke, and Brooke’s Books projects offered to children in diverse city, agency, and school programs.

Registration for the event will be available online here. You’ll also have an opportunity to have your own online fundraising page, to make it that much easier to have people support you in the race! Please talk with your friends, family, and neighbors . . . sign up as many people as possible to sponsor you for the 13th Annual Brooke Jackman Race for Literacy. And don’t forget to register by clicking the link below!

For those of you who are unable to attend the event but would still like to show your support, you can do so by donating to the Brooke Jackman Foundation below!

We look forward to seeing you on May 18th. On your mark, get set . . . go!
